What do you think of colour therapy?

Do you think it can help to surround yourself with colours that heal?

I think it is proven really if you enter a bright light room, you feel different to when you enter a dark and dingy room - same with clothing...

What do you think and what colour makes you feel better?

I believe in it for sure. I'm not sure to what degree as it's something that I don't know a whole lot about. But I know that colour can affect my own mood so I believe in it.
When I was a teenager my bedroom was so plastered in posters that my room was always very dark. It used to make me feel really fed up at times and in the end, I got rid of all the posters and had my room painted yellow. It made me feel so much better.

Yeah for sure, I agree totally.

From what I have been reading, it refers back to the chakra's and the colours, I can post about each of the colours in relation to colour therapy if you like?

Yeah that would be cool.
I was gonna go to one of those Colour Me Beautiful parties, a few years ago. I was looking forward to it but it got cancelled.
I choose the colour of the clothes I wear according to how I feel sometimes...I just go with my gut.....I don't have a set colour for a certain mood or anything.

The Colour Indigo

Indigo relates to the brow chakra, or the third eye and is positioned in the middle of the forehead. the organs related to this chakra are the eyes, lower head, sinuses the endocrine and pituitary glands.

Indigo relates to self responsibility, that is

responsibility to oneself to follow the soul's
path and needs and trusting one's own intuition.
The ability to see things from a 'higher' viewpoint
rather than purely for satisfaction of the ego
or one's material comfort. Intuitive messages
are unique to you and are for your own personal
growth and differ from the gut feelings.

Some of the associated problems include, migraine, visual defects, tension headache, short sightedness, long sightedness, glaucoma, cataracts, catarrh, sinus problems and some ear problems

- Devotion to duty
- Articulate

Negative:

- Judgemental
- Inconsiderate

Using colours well in the home is a way of creating
a balanced environment.

Indigo is a sedative and
it helps to open up our intuition. The colour of
divine knowledge and the higher mind. Not suitable
for areas for entertainment but for more 'quiet'
places. Bedrooms or treatment rooms for example.
Some people find indigo is helpful for studying
so this colour could be used as part of the decor
of a library or study

The Colour Orange

Orange is the colour of the sacral chakra which is located in the lower abdomen. The organs which relate to this chakra are the large bowel, uterus, prostate, ovaries and testes. The endocrine glands are the ovaries and testes.

This chakra relates to self respect and the ability to have the freedom to be ourselves and respect our own boundaries and requirements, and also to respect the boundaries of others. Orange is the colour of creativity, and you should make space for creative time.

Associated problems include pre-menstrual syndrome,
problems with menstrual flow, uterine fibroids,
ovarian cysts, irritable bowel syndrome, endometriosis,
testicular disease, prostatic disease.

Positive:
- Joyous
- Self confident
- Enthusiatic
- Independent
- Sociable
- Constructive
- Creative

Negative:
- Despondancy
- Pride
- Exibitionism
- Dependancy
- Destructive attitudes
- Unsociable
- Difficulty interacting with others

It is interesting that orange is the colour
which is the least popular and the associated
issues of orange and the sacral chakra seem to
be an area which people find the most difficulty
working on.
But orange is such a good colour for
us in many ways. It stimulates and energizes us,
and is warming. It is an excellent colour for
creativity.
Colours used in the home can be so helpful in
providing us with a balanced environment. Orange
is the colour of fun and sociability and can be
used in any activity area and creative areas.
It is not ideal for bedrooms or areas of possible
stress.

The Colour Red

Red relates to the base chakra. The organs related to this chakra are the kidneys and bladder, the vertabral column legs and hip area are also related to this chakra and the adrenial gland.

This chakra relates to self awareness, awareness of ourselves as human beings and our place on earth. It is the area of survival and relates to our basic human intsinct of fight or flight. Red gives us courage and strength and relates to stability and security.

Associated problems include, constipation, diarrhea, piles, colitis, Crohn's disease, cold fingers
and toes, frequency of urination, hypertension (high blood pressure),
kidney stones, impotence, problems with hips, legs and feet.

Positive:
- Courageous
- Pioneering spirit
- Leadership qualities
- Strong willed
- Confident
- Energetic
- Determined
- Spontaneous

Negative:

- Fearful
- Fear of progress
- Ruthless
- Brutal/aggressive
- Domineering
- Resentful
- Self pity
- Obstinate
- Quick tempered

Red is the lowest of the seven colours in the
visible spectrum and is known as a "warm"
colour. It is stimulating and energising therefore
it is helpful for tiredness and lethargy, to stimulate
low blood pressure, to boost sluggish circulation.
NB Red should not be used on anyone, with
hypertension/high
blood pressure since this colour increases blood
flow. (That is to say as a colour treatment).
Pink may be used instead in such cases.
Red, in its most positive sense, is the colour
for courage, strength and pioneering spirit. However,
in the most negative aspect, it is the colour
of anger, violence and brutality and, interestingly,
before world war two it was noted that a lot of
red was being worn.
Using colours well in the home is a way of creating
a balanced environment. Red is energising and
excites the emotions, and can stimulate the
appetite.(Often
used in restaurants). It can be used in any activity
area but red needs careful choice of tone and
depth and the space in which it is to be used
as it can make a space look smaller and can be
claustrophobic or oppressive. However, used well,
red and its variations, can make a space feel
warm and cosy.

A good exercise in Color theory which is easy to do. Go to a mac donalds with its yellows and reds and sit there for 5 - 10 minutes, and notice how you feel. Then find a cafe which has more earthy colours such as deep earthy red, and browns, etc you'll probably need to order something to sit there so get a tea and coffee, sit and observe how you're feeling.
